The theme was Women of Cuba, and the service included Cuban music and customs. Half of the offering collected went to the World Day of Prayer to meet the needs of families in Cuba and around the world who are victims of many forms of poverty, violence and injustice; the other half will support The Grace House, a local women/children advocacy agency.

Deacon Rick Paine spoke about Grace House during the service.

After the service, participants had Cuban coffee and food prepared at the church. Dr. David Boran shared personal experiences of his visit to Cuba.

Women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions celebrated the World Day of Prayer that day. World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christians of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March. Each year a different country’s committee serves as writers of the World Day of Prayer worship services.

Next year the Philippines will be featured.
