This Memorial Day, when we come together to worship freely, read the word of God, and learn of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us remember that this precious freedom and many others rest on the shoulders of those that paid the ultimate sacrifice and continue to sacrifice every day. Let us remember those proud soldiers that have allowed us to be free today.
Nehemiah 5:19
“Remember me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.”
This was the cry of Nehemiah. He was not asking for gratitude from the children of Israel.
All he did to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and lead the people was done for the Lord, not for the praise of the people. Nehemiah had the right attitude. His service was unto the Lord, not unto man.
Today, we take time to remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, for you and for me. They gave their lives in defense of freedom, not just here in the United States but around the world.
Many are so thankful for the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform, but some never really think about it. Their freedoms and liberties have been paid for with the blood of brave men and women.
That is why Nehemiah’s cry is so comforting to me. Those who have given their lives serving this country will always be remembered by God. He recognizes the great honor and courage they displayed. He was there with them.
That gives me great comfort, as I remember and celebrate the lives of the friends we lost in Vietnam. I will always remember them. They will be with me always. Do not ever forget the courageous men and women who have preserved our liberties at the cost of their very lives.
